Sheikh Mohammed al-Thani, chairman of the Bank of Qatar, made a $4.5 billion bid to buy Manchester United
On Thursday, Manchester United officials confirmed that the Bank of Qatar had made a takeover offer for the club worth 4.5 billion pounds.
The official statement from al-Thani’s bid:
“Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani confirms that a 100% bid has been submitted to buy Manchester United. The offer is designed to return Manchester United to glory on and off the pitch and, more importantly, to put the fans at the heart of Manchester United Football Club once again.”
“Through Al Thani’s 92 fund, the offer will be debt-free and will invest in the club’s first team, training centre, stadium as well as the wider infrastructure, fan experience and community the club supports. The vision of the offer is for Manchester United to be known for playing fantastic football and to be the greatest club in the game. Further details of the offer will be announced in due course, should the offer progress.”
