Messi leans towards leaving Paris Neymar wants to stay until 2027

On February 23, L ‘Equipe reported on the future of Neymar and Messi, stating that Donneymar has no intention of leaving Paris Saint-Germain before his contract expires in 2027, while Messi is leaning towards leaving as a free agent at the end of the season with no progress on an extension.

Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barca in 2017 for a world record 220 million euros and signed a contract extension in 2021 that currently runs until 2027. Neymar’s current salary in Paris is around 36 million euros a year. So far, Neymar has played 173 games for Paris due to injury problems.

Neymar is not expected to play in Bayern’s Champions League last-16 leg after suffering a sprained ankle and partial ligament tear against Lille last Sunday. But Neymar is determined to do his best to be in time for the match. He hopes to prove to his critics that his impressive performances in the first half of the season were not a warm-up for the World Cup.

Neymar has no intention of leaving Paris Saint-Germain, even though his close friend Lionel Messi is inclined to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in June. He is considering seeing out the remainder of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, which would mean he would play in Paris for another four-and-a-half seasons, by which time he would be 35.

Neymar’s current wage bill also makes it difficult for other teams to match, with only Premier League teams such as Chelsea, who continue to follow him, and Newcastle United able to afford him. People close to Neymar say he intends to stay with the team until 2027.
